Chapter One

Thanks for the comments yesterday. I know I'm a long way from being finished, but I like to get as much feedback as possible along the way. If you'd like to read the first chapter of my new novel, A Cappella, head on over to this link:

Visit My Portfolio @ Writing.Com

Then just click on A Cappella Chapter One. When you're done, I'd love some comments, either here or over there. And don't worry, I have a very thick skin. You don't have to be nice just because I'll be rich and famous one day

  2. Hey - I read it. You write well.

    My interest is piqued.

My only criticism is: It reads like a typical Romance novel. I enjoyed it, but am not expecting anything new from what I haven't read before.

  3. Cheeky - be sure to let me know what you think!

Karmyn - I know, when I first started reading romances, I thought they made things too obvious in the beginning ("Well, clearly the new neighbor is going to be the love interest!") But really, the best stuff happens in the middles of them. So hopefully my middle can live up to that! Thanks!

  4. That was cute, Jana!
And I just went over and read your first chapter...nice job! :D

I didn't remember you wrote fiction...I do, too! I have a book that still needs that last chapter and I keep procastinating!
I didn't know about this site, either...

Good for you for pursuing this talent! I hope you get published- you're off to a great start!

Also, thank you for your sweet comment, Jana, on my post...:)

  5. I was just thinking yesterday that it would be cool to start a novel writing blog and just post a bit of a current project everyday, then I remembered that I really don't have the time or drive to write a novel right now. I thought about cheating and posting, little by little, one of the stories I've already written but am too chicken to submit anywhere.

How cool that there is a place to do that!

I haven't read your chapter yet, but I will.

  6. I love it, and I love the direction it's going in! At first I was thinking the neighbor was going to be crazy Kevin! Can't wait to read more!

  7. Excellent Jana! I'm intrigued and I'm not even a mystery reader. The dialouge is very good and I like the small details such as her being careful when walking to avoid a splinter. Why did mystery man moving in across the street freak out?!!! Why did Kevin hit her?! Chapter 2! Chapter 2! ... LOL :)
