Halloween tonight

Or, I guess it's not Halloween, it's just trick-or-treating. I wrote about this last year. It's just bizarre to me that we all go trick-or-treating six days before Halloween. But the even more bizarre part? Not every community is the same. We could go out for candy tonight in our town, and probably hit three other towns three other nights this week. And none of them would be on Halloween. I'm sorry, but that's just strange.

The eleven-year-old is going to be an alien again. He loves that costume. The eight-year-old is dressing as some Bionicle thing he got from the Lego catalog. The two-year-old will be a cow (another bought costume that has served us well). So this year, I'm in a last-minute rush to find a costume for the five-year-old. If anybody has any suggestions that don't involve sewing, let me know. In the meantime, I'm going to cruise the Family Fun website.

Happy Halloween, everybody!

  1. Aliens are cool - and I remember your kids being way into Bionicle. LOL.

We had a cow costume once. Nick wore it when he was a little one. Too cute.

Let's see, a costume for the 5 yr old with no sewing... how about a robot? Use a cardboard box - cut hole for the head and arms. Decorate it with abandoned electronic pieces in the junk drawer or in hubby's stuff. LOL. For arms you can get some of that dryer vent pipe and just slip it on. That's easy enough - and the kids would have fun making it, too.

  2. I'm not sure of why a cow is a Halloween costume.

  3. Yeah - a robot is a good idea.

My son wants to be a Giant Squid this year. I am grasping at straws for this costume. I've bought some felt and am going to figure something out. Good thing I still have a week - not tomorrow!

  4. Yeah, isn't that weird? When I was a kid we went out on 10/31, it didn't matter what day of the week it was.

    Weird.

  5. umm, the easiest costume i ever saw was when one of my coworkers was a bunch of grapes. a package of green or purple balloons is all it takes, blow them up and attach to clothing...and viola!

  6. What are you saying? Are you saying you go out on other nights beside Halloween? I dont get it? Is this like a custome in your town of did I misread? If your town really does that than goodness dont let the children of the world know or your town will be flooded with families moving there! LOL
