Well, being a homeschool mom, I see this not so much as an obsession as an opportunity. I asked them if they'd like to study Hawaii and they responded enthusiastically. So, tomorrow I'm going to do some research and start putting together lesson plans. We can study the history and culture of the islands, the language (I'm trying to teach them a Hawaiian word a day), even how volcanoes work. I'm also looking for Hawaiian recipes to try out. We'll be immersed in all things Hawaii for the next few weeks.
Do you think we might get a field trip out of this?

Like your new template, Jansa, Very good.
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! What a great oppurtunity.. How about some Hawaiian hart and food? Can we come learn with you? hehe
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh, I totally think that a field trip is needed. Hands on opportunity!
ReplyDeleteBTW RE: bamboo...there are tons of different styles and shades, we ordered quite a few bamboo samples from various on-line vendors to see what we liked. Even if you don't plan to buy on-line it's nice to have samples to kind of give you an idea of what you might look for in a retail store.
I love the new template, your boys are adorable.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the field trip, you'll need a guide and I'm sure I can work some time off in the schedule. Only for you of course, but I'm willing to sacrifice, say , at least two weeks for educational reasons !!!
I love Lilo & Stitch too!!!! (What does it say about me, that I share an obsession with your children? hahaha)
ReplyDeleteCool ideas about teaching them Hawaiian stuff. Especially volcanos.
LOVE the new theme on your blog!!!!! WAY COOL!!!!!!!!
Very, very cool. I will be back to read your family's progress. A field trip would be awesome! We love Hawaii, and our daughter just got back from a trip to paradise (Honalulu). I picked up a cool Hawaiian vocab book when we were in Kauai. I'll have to post a few words! I love the sounds of the language. Mahalo!
